Ultrasound / Laser

The heating and relaxing benefits help to alleviate muscle pain

Ultrasound

Therapeutic Ultrasound is a common form of therapy in use by many Chiropractors.  Ultrasound works by applying powerful sound waves to the injured area.  It works by thermal effect, causing deep heating of injured tissues beneath the skin.  This increases the rate of healing of your injury.  The intensity, frequency, and depth of penetration can be adjusted to treat your specific condition properly.  Ultrasound is effective, safe, and totally painless.

Ultrasound has been well documented to treat many conditions, such as:

  • Musculoskeletal Pain
  • Inflammation (Joint or Tissue)
  • Pain & Spasms
  • Sprain / Strain
  • Tendinitis / Tenosynovitis
  • Bursitis, including Calcific Bursitis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Periostitis (Inflammation of tissue surrounding bone)
  • Capsulitis (Inflammation of ligaments surrounding joint)
  • Joint Contracture and Adhesions
  • Neuroma

Ultrasound is also showing promise in the treatment of:

  • Myofascial Pain (Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Trigger Points)
  • Fibrosis
  • Phantom Limb Pain

Laser

Low-level Laser therapy, also known as “cold” laser or “soft” laser is one of the more recent advances in physical medicine.  A medical-grade laser can be used to help speed healing of many types of injury.  Laser light is effective, safe, and totally painless.  Laser can also be used to stimulate acupuncture points in patients who prefer laser instead of traditional acupuncture needles.  Modern medical lasers use a visible or infrared beam, and make use of specific wavelengths shown to most benefit injured tissue.

Some of the more common indications for using Laser Therapy include:

  • Pain Relief
  • Wound Healing
  • Arthritis
  • Migraine Headaches
  • Back, Neck, and Joint Pain
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI)
  • Tendinitis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sprains / Strains
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Golfer’s Elbow
  • Post-Operative Pain
  • Post-Operative Wounds
  • TMJ (Jaw) Pain
  • Soft Tissue Injuries
  • Swelling
